Last week the EMI lost eight cents to 716 A cents whilst this week it nearly recovered by

 - In 2006 it will be 500 years since the Portuguese explorer Tristao da Cunha discovered what is now the most remote inhabited island on Earth -- the mountainous volcano summit towering out of the South Atlantic, 1,500 miles from Cape Town, 1,300 miles from St Helena, home now to just 300 people:

- 11: Falklands Patrol Vessel Rescues French Yacht - Falklands (Fisheries) - 13.03.2005
- The FPV SIGMA” has been involved in a rescue of the French Yacht KIFOUINE on 11 and 12 March 2005. At 2209 on 11 March, Fisheries Operations, located at FIPASS, received information from the Falkland Islands Company (FIC) that the yacht from La Rochelle, France, had called via VHF radio from the Sea Lion Island area for assistance.

- There has been a joint research cruise on the Illex and at the moment, although it’s not looking very promising, it is better than last year. But it is very difficult at this stage to see exactly what the situation is going to be but it certainly doesn’t look as though it’s going to be a very good season.

 - The Falklands’ highest structure, a medium wave mast measuring 433 feet – 132 metres – has been successfully painted in record time, despite February’s challenging weather.
