- John Drummond was born in Hong Kong on 11th February 1956. He was the son of Margaret and Gilbert Drummond. His father was working for Cable & Wireless at the time and the family moved around the world to Mr Drummond’s different postings.

- Michael Portillo (MP) has told News Direct that he is amazed that the Falklands conflict still overshadows relationships between Argentina and Britain. The former Defence Secretary was a delegate to the Argentine/British Conference in Buenos Aires, which finished yesterday.

 - A memorial Mass to pray for the repose of the soul and to give thanksgiving for the life of Monsignor Anton Agreiter was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Stanley, Falkland Islands at 1700 on Saturday, 25 October 2003.

- A glorious sunny afternoon saw the first shoot of the 2003/4 season. Eight shooters put their scores on the table which sees shotgun shooters compete for the first ever Clay Pigeon League Trophy.

 - Sir Ranuph Fiennes and Dr. Mike Stroud have flown to the Falklands from Chile today, landing at Mount Pleasant at 0930 and beginning their "Antarctic" marathon at Fitzroy Ridge at 1100.

- 10: Incident Report: Tay Taylor Tells About the Bomb - S.Atlantic (Mineral Resources) - 22.10.2003
 - On Thursday 16th October 2003 at 1115am, EOD received a report of a suspicious metal object (possibly a bomb) situated 50m to the East of the FIGAS Workshop at Stanley Airport. The item had been uncovered during excavations close to the Stanley Airport complex by Mr Iain Berntsen working for Ian Stewart Construction. The suspicious object was reported to Spr ‘Andy’ Kirkcaldy in the JSEOD Operations Centre situated on Ross Rd, Stanley.

- 11: Conservation Group Go Wild Out West - S.Atlantic (Environment) - 21.10.2003
 - The Falklands Conservation Watch Group were once again proving their beach-cleaning skills last weekend at Shallow Harbour, West Falkland. Over 60 bags of rubbish were removed from a beach in the South Camp, by 12 of the Watch Group, their leaders and farm owners Ali and Marlene Marsh.

- 12: Work Continues on 1000-Pound Bomb - S.Atlantic (Mineral Resources) - 17.10.2003
- Explosives experts are continuing to deal with the 1000-pound bomb that workers dug up at Stanley Airport on Thursday. According to an EOD spokesman, today’s task is place explosive charges on either side of the bomb, blow the casing off and burn the plastic explosives inside.
- 13: New Tour Guides Receive Their Badges - S.Atlantic (Tourism/Travel) - 17.10.2003
 - Falklands Tourism has fourteen new tour guides. Thursday evening at 1700 at the Jetty Centre, they received their certificates and badges from H. E. the Governor Mr. Howard Pearce.

- 15: 1000-Pound Bomb Disabled - S.Atlantic (Mineral Resources) - 17.10.2003
- Police Chief Officer, Dave Morris, confirmed that it was a British Bomb that Explosives experts were dealing with. Further to this, an EOD spokesman confirmed that the bomb was part of a payload of a Vulcan Bomber sent to destroy the airport during the 1982 conflict.
- 16: Workers Uncover 1,000 Pound Bomb at Airport - S.Atlantic (Mineral Resources) - 16.10.2003
- Workers excavating for a building at Stanley Airport have uncovered a 1,000-pound bomb that has been present in the area since the 1982 conflict.
- 17: Viarsa1: 5 Crew Charged and Bailed - S.Atlantic (Fisheries) - 12.10.2003
- Australian press reports that five crew members from VIARSA1, which are accused of poaching Patagonian Toothfish, were granted bail after they appeared before a magistrate in Perth, Australia on Friday.

 - A sale of cuddly toys took place at the West Store on Saturday, 11 October 2003 in aid of the Cancer Support and Awareness Trust.

 - In the United Kingdom It’s been a custom for many years to choose the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet annually. Staff at the TS Endurance, the Falklands Sea and Marine Cadet Unit, have decided that it would be a good idea for the Falklands.
