- Healthy People can get MRSA. MRSA skin infections are showing up more frequently in healthy people, with none of the usual risks factors. This type of MRSA - called community-associated MRSA (CA MRSA) - has been reported among athletes, prisoners, and military recruits. Outbreaks have been seen at schools, gyms, day care centres and other places where people are in close proximity.

- Following a recruitment campaign to attract registered nurses from abroad to work within the General Hospital on St Helena, two nurses from Zimbabwe have recently joined the team.
Ms Anna Colletta Chiduku and Mrs Blessing Phiri have been engaged as Staff Nurses on one year contracts. Both ladies have extensive experience in general nursing and have worked in large hospitals in Zimbabwe prior to travelling to St Helena.

- Two Islanders – Andrew Brownlee and Louise Taylor – are yomping East Falkland to raise money for a team of specialists from Clinica Alemana to send the Head of their Mammography Department, Dr Horvath, a specialist nurse and a technician as well as a portable mammography machine and sonogram unit for a two week period. It is estimated that 150 patients could be seen during this period.
