PROVISIONAL REGISTER OF ELECTORS PUBLISHED -

EIGHT DAYS LEFT TO MAKE AMENDMENTS!

The 2012 Provisional Registers of Electors for the East and West Constituencies have now been published and the public are reminded that they now have eight days left to make applications to amend the register.

People should check if their details are correct and if they need to make any changes. Examples where changes might need to be made are because of a marriage or if the person has moved address. People who are entitled to be registered as an elector under the Elections Ordinance 2009 can also apply to get on to the Registers.

The Provisional Register has been posted on the SHG website and copies can also be viewed at the following locations around the Island: Community Centres, the Public Library, the Secretariat at the Castle, the Customer Services Centre in Jamestown, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Directorate, Half Tree Hollow Supermarket, Mrs Audrey Yon’s shop at Blue Hill, Sandy Bay shops, Silver Hill Shop and Longwood Supermarket.

Copies will also be held by the Assistant Registration Officers in both the East and West Constituencies:

West Electoral Area

Mrs Karen Yon, Miss Michelle Yon, Mr Desmond Wade, Miss Alfreda Yon, Mrs Jackie Moyce, Mrs Lorrian Yon, Mrs Elizabeth March, Mrs Phyllis Coleman, and Miss Anita Legg.

East Electoral Area

Mr Robert Essex, Mr Douglas Bennett, Mrs Jill Young, Mrs Alicia Thomas, Mrs Olive Williams MBE, Mr Ronald Coleman JP, Mrs Pamela Joshua, Mr Peter Johnson, Miss Paula Moyce, Miss Christine Henry, Mrs Jane Augustus and Mrs Brenda Thomas.

Applications for amendments will need to be made in writing on the prescribed form to the Registration Officer, Gillian Francis at the Castle. The Registration Officer will then make a decision as to whether the application should be accepted. There will be opportunity to appeal to the Magistrates Court within seven days of the decision, if there is dissatisfaction.

The revised register will be published on 1st July 2012. It is important to note that the Provisional Register will not be used for the 2012 By Election.

Further information can be obtained from the Registration Officer, Gillian Francis at the Castle. Amendment Forms can be obtained from the Secretariat, The Castle or from any of the Assistant

Registration Officers.
