Submitted by Saint Helena Herald (Public Relations Information Office) 05.05.2012 (Article Archived on 19.05.2012)

The Health and Social Welfare Directorate wishes to amend their previous announcement about customs duty on spectacles.

SPECTACLES – CUSTOMS DUTIES

The Health and Social Welfare Directorate wishes to amend their previous announcement about customs duty on spectacles. The Collector of Customs has agreed a one-off concession to waive customs duty on the most recent consignment of spectacles. Anyone who has been charged duty on their purchase may apply to the Health Directorate for a refund of duty. The public is advised that spectacles are a private purchase and future orders will be subject to customs duty at the appropriate rate.
