Falkland Islands Television (FITV) has celebrated one year of operation at a reception held at the FI Chamber of Commerce Function Room at 1800hrs on Friday, 06 April 2012.
Invited guests were treated to an exclusive viewing of new commercials produced by SeAled PR. Who produce advertising for FITV. Dave Lewis Décor had two ads made naming, claiming and demonstrating their floor coverings and other decorating services.
FITV Station Manager, Steve Fowmes, said that it had been a roller-coaster year with highlights being the Island Games sponsored by the Print Shop, Ian Stuart Construction, FIOGA and Cable & Wireless, Liz Roberts’ venture to South Georgia. He thanked the Captain and crew as well as Media Ops MPC and the Military in general for making Liz’s trip a resounding success. He went on to thank the Military for letting FITV film at MPA. Steve’s third favourite was the Small Islands’ Feature that included Sea Lion, Carcass, Saunders, Bleaker and Weddell Islands. Owners and Managers of the islands had helped in many ways and offered FITV excellent hospitality.
He went on to thank KTV and Stanley Services for making it all happen, subscribers for viewing, contributing and commenting on content, advertisers for their support of a new project and SeLed PR for organising and drawing up the adverts as well as organising the reception, guest presenters for their input and doing a difficult job and for those who put the programme together – no mean fete when there are deadlines to meet.
FITV’s plan to go to the Island Games in Bermuda was announced as well as a sponsorship scheme to help defray FITV’s costs in attending. A fourth member of the production team would help to increase FITV’s Political content and in order for two programmes per week – also announced – that person is actively sought. Twice weekly programmes will begin at the end of June, with a website up at the end of the year.
