TWO KEY POLICY DOCUMENTS PUBLISHED

Two key policy documents, the Sustainable Development Plan (SDP) and the Sustainable Economic Development Plan (SEDP) are now available on the SHG website.

The SDP provides the 10 year vision for the Island with particular concentration on the next three years, presenting the strategic direction in the build-up to air access. The SDP focuses on improving the quality of life of present and future generations by stimulating economic and social development, whilst protecting the environment.

The SEDP is one of three plans underpinning the SDP and sets out at a practical level what needs to be done to ensure that the Island exploits in economic terms the airport opening, and that Saints have the future they want.

The SEDP also ensures that Saint people and businesses take up all the numerous opportunities that will make St Helena a more attractive place for investors and visitors to experience and that the envisaged major tourism development projects do happen.

The remaining key documents, the Social Policy Plan and the SHG Strategic Plan will be available for consultation shortly. An Environmental Management Plan supporting all areas of the SDP is also under formulation.
