TOURISM UPDATE

Market Day

A reminder that there will be another community market this Saturday, 31 March, this time in the gardens of the Consulate Hotel. There will be a range of crafts and local produce available. The market will run from 10.00am to 2.00pm. Everyone is most welcome.

Dolphin Trip

There will be a dolphin trip on board the Gannet 3 next Saturday, 7 April, leaving the Wharf Steps at 9.30am. Places can be booked through the Tourist Office.

Lemon Valley

Work on the new landing stage at Lemon Valley has been completed, and visitors are now able to use this facility fully. The landing stage has improved landing for boats, as well as a ladder to help divers and swimmers. It is hoped that visitors will treat this facility properly, and will also keep the area clean from litter so that Lemon Valley remains an attractive place to visit. Watch out for details of a weekend of visits and activities at Lemon Valley which is coming soon!

Sandy Bay

Two shelters and barbeque units have been erected at Sandy Bay beach, to enhance the facilities for visitors there. These are already being well used, and we hope that everyone will enjoy these improvements. Please remember to take your litter home after using the barbeques.

Gillian Moore returning

Many people will remember Gillian Moore, who was on island last year providing training and support for local hospitality businesses. Gillian is an experienced chef-patron and has long experience with accommodation grading and standards. She will be back on island from Monday, 2 April, to assist with further work on accommodation standards, as well as helping work up training for the hospitality sector.
