SDP and EDP: Next Steps
Consultation on the draft Sustainable Development Plan (SDP) and the draft Economic Development Plan (EDP) has now come to a close.
Members of the public who gave feedback on the plans are thanked for their contributions: these will now be taken into consideration by the Strategic Policy and Planning Unit (SPPU).
Contained in the SDP are three National Goals in the broad areas of Economic Development, Social Development and Governance.
The National Goals are:
National Goal 1: A vibrant Economy providing opportunities for all to participate
National Goal 2: Strong community and family life
National Goal 3: Efficient and effective Government and Law
The feedback received from the consultation was supportive of the National Goals: The SPPU will use this feedback to help refine the targets within the SDP for the next three years.
The SDP will be underpinned by plans in each of the three areas identified in the National Goals. The EDP will be finalised shortly, based on the feedback received. Work is continuing to progress on the two remaining plans - the Social Policy Plan and the SHG Strategic Plan. These will be finalised over the coming months. With the creation of the Environmental Management Directorate, an Environmental Management Plan that supports all areas of the SDP is also under formulation. All of these plans support and build on the work of the other MOU Reforms.
