Councillors will discuss a range of issues at their next formal meeting. The first sitting of the 10th meeting of Legislative Council will take place on Monday 7th November at 10am in the Court House, Jamestown. The meeting is expected to last two days and will be broadcast live via Radio St Helena.
Formal Legislative Council Meeting to take place on 7 November 2011
Councillors will discuss a range of issues at their next formal meeting. The first sitting of the 10th meeting of Legislative Council will take place on Monday 7th November at 10am in the Court House, Jamestown. The meeting is expected to last two days and will be broadcast live via Radio St Helena.
On the Order Paper are the Elections for Executive Council. This is something new. The 2009 Constitution for St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha makes provision for elected Members to elect different Members to sit on the Executive Council after a period of two years and then again after the third year. The Elections will be followed by the presentation of 11 Sessional Papers.
10 questions will be also be asked and there is one private motion and seven Bills i.e. the Plants Protection (Amendment) Bill 2011, the Dogs and Cats Bill 2011, the Bees (Amendment) Bill 2011, the Animal (Diseases) (Amendment) Bill 2011, the First Supplementary Appropriation Bill 2011, the Magistrates’ Court Bill 2011 and the Media Standards Bill 2011.
The meeting will conclude with the customary Adjournment Debate.
