Liberty Lodge and the Arboretum in the UK will benefit from money donated by Red Lion Foods and SAMA’82.  At a reception for Veterans held at Government House a very grateful Smoky Coles from the Falklands Families Association received both cheques.

Tony Davies, MBE, operated as MC and welcomed visiting veterans as well as Andrew Gidding.  He also thanked the Falkland Islanders for their generosity and unfailing support.

Mr Gidding of Red Lion Foods has raised money through his company for service men and women via the Armed Forces charities.  In the first year his company gave away £600,000.00.  For the next 5 years Red Lion Foods will cover all the costs of Liberty Lodge.

Gary Clement presented a cheque for £6,000.00 for the Memorial in the National Arboretum.  The three Islanders who died in 1982 will be on the memorial next to the Arboretum.  Smoky Coles said that the £62,000.00 memorial is located in a good place.  The dedication will be over the weekend of 19/20 May 2011.
