APPOINTMENT OF ACTING GOVERNOR
Governor Gurr today announced that the Attorney General, Ken Baddon, will be Acting Governor during the coming interregnum following his departure on 23rd September and prior to the arrival of Mark Capes on 29th October.
Morag Stevenson will take over as Acting Attorney General for that 5 week period.
Speaking today, the Governor said “I know we will all wish them well in these temporary roles.”
The Attorney General said “I am delighted, and honoured, to have the opportunity to serve again as Acting Governor, having done so once before, in 1989. During my short tenure of office, I shall devote myself to pressing ahead, in company with Councillors and the public service, with established policies towards the overall strategic objective of creating a prosperous, peaceful and democratic society for all, achieved through sustainable economic, environmental and social development leading to a healthy and eventually financially independent St Helena. In particular, I expect this to be a busy period in pushing forward our ambitions in terms of air access.”
