Three Human Rights Trainers, Lindi Coetzee, Selina Goulbourne and Rosanna Mesquita have arrived in the Falklands and will conduct Human Rights training during the week of 19 to 25 July 2011. The training is sponsored by the UK Government through the Commonwealth Human Rights Institute; and all sessions are free of charge. It is only necessary to turn up for the lecture you want and thus far class sizes range from 25 to 30 people with a lecture at the FIDF classroom having to be split in two.
Lectures are held at four venues; mainly at the Function Room at the Chamber of Commerce but there are some lectures held in the FIDF Classroom, the Falkland Islands community School and one session will be held at Mount Pleasant. Please see the remainder of the programme below for details. Parallel sessions will be held on Friday morning (Media / Court Remedies & UN Reports) and Monday morning (Year 9/10 students / Open session on practical application of human rights).
People requiring childcare so they can attend the sessions should contact Karen on tel. 55946 / 22802 for details. More information can be obtained by emailing ainglis@sec.gov.fk.
