By J. Brock (FINN)

Former Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr Mike Summers, has announced that he will be standing for the seat left vacant by Mr Glenn Ross.

“This has not been the easiest decision, given that the current Government was elected on issues that were often perceived to be opposed what had been achieved in previous Governments of which I was a member,” he said.

Mr Summers went on to say that there remains much to do, and if elected he would hope to be able to work positively and creatively to the benefit of the Falkland Islands.

In regard to his chairmanship of the Falkland Islands Overseas Games Association, Mr Summers said that since the last election he had taken up the role; and currently in the midst of making arrangements for the FI team on the Isle of Wight.

“Indeed I will be in the Isle of Wight at the time of the election; and I hope that electors will understand my absence during the election, but it would be my intention to continue as Chair of FIOGA, and to support our teams going overseas,” he said.
