Falklands : ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATED IN THE FALKLANDS

A small gathering of Australians, New Zealanders and others commemorated ANZAC Day in the Falklands at Dawn on Monday, 25 April 2011. The commemorations were joined by H. E. the Governor Mr Nigel Haywood.

ANZAC DAY COMMEMORATED IN THE FALKLANDS

A small gathering of Australians, New Zealanders and others commemorated ANZAC Day in the Falklands at Dawn on Monday, 25 April 2011. The commemorations were joined by H. E. the Governor Mr Nigel Haywood.


 



ANZAC Day honours Military personnel from Australia and New Zealand who fought in several wars, including WW1 at Gallipoli in Turkey, Tobruk in Libya, Viet Nam and other conflicts and skirmishes. This particular day marks the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign.


 



The commemoration included readings as well as wreath laying by H. E. the Governor Mr Nigel Haywood.


 



After the ceremony there was Breakfast served at Government House for those who attended the ceremony.
