Disaster Management exercise at Levelwood

Designed as a real case scenario, a Disaster Management exercise, involving the Fire and Rescue Service and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department (ANRD), took place on Wednesday 17th November at Pleasant Valley, Levelwood.

His Excellency, Governor Gurr attended for the duration of this exercise and was given a direct view of the Fire and Rescue Service’s and ANRD’s response to a possible major incident on St Helena.

The scenario which involved six casualties and took place in an almost inaccessible area tested the leadership, skill and teamwork of both the Fire and Rescue Service and personnel from ANRD.

His Excellency, Governor Gurr said:

“Watching this exercise was both interesting and informative. It was also helpful to witness the gear that we have available and the professionalism with which it can be used.”
