ST HELENA NEWS MEDIA SERVICES

The future of the St Helena News Media Services ie Radio St Helena and the Herald, has been under discussion for quite some with a view to phasing out the SHG annual operating subsidy over a reasonable period of time.

In this regard, John Styles has agreed to develop a strategic framework and business model for a viable and sustainable local media service.  John will be supported by a small group comprising Councillor Derek Thomas as Chairman of the Home and International Committee, Stedson George as Chairman of the Citizenship Commission, Nigel Benjamin from the St Helena News Media Services (SHNMS), Martin Joshua as a Member of the SHNMS Board and Deputy Chief Secretary, Gillian Francis.

It is hoped that the framework will be available within the next couple of months when relevant stakeholders will be consulted.
