The South American Press has published an article about Argentine militants painting graffiti on the hull and superstructure of the Panama flagged Audax II, presently docked in Buenos Aires.
The group are demanding that the ship is returned to Argentine ownership because it took part in the 1982 conflict. The ship’s name at the time was “Yehunin” but after the conflict it was called “The Black Pig” and used to haul trash from other ships in Stanley Harbour.
Later the ship was bought by Steve Beldam and later re-named “River Express” and the “Scotia Venturer” then moved to Chile by its new company, “Scotia Marine.”
Presently the ship is owned by the Cintra Company and flagged in Panama. Juan Antonio Lopez, the Militant Patriotic Resistance group’s leader, has partitioned the Argentine Government for the garbage scow’s return to Argentine ownership.
