The annual Falkland Craft Fair was held at the Community School over the weekend of 11 and 12 September 2010.

The annual Falkland Craft Fair was held at the Community School over the weekend of 11 and 12 September 2010.


 


Items crafted in the Falkland Islands, and photos taken in the Falklands, British Antarctic Territory and South Georgia will also be on display.


 


Fifteen categories will be filled with entries.  Those categories include homespun wool, felting, knitting, weaving, rug-making and basketwork, sewing and crochet. Embroidery, tapestry and cross-stitch, soft toy making, horn-work, leatherwork, gear-making and skins, woodwork and metalwork, pottery jewellery and sculpture, model-making, art, photography, any other handicraft and items for display only.


 


The prizes include the Cable & Wireless Challenge Cup for the adult with the most points overall, the Falkland Islands Company Ltd challenge Cup and Medallion for the most points overall. the Falkland Islands Company Ltd challenge Cup and Medallion for Children’s runner-up, Standard Chartered Bank Rose-bowl and miniature for the person with most points in Sections A, B, C, and D, the George Porter Challenge Cup for the person with most points in sections H and I, the Marj McPhee Memorial Prize sponsored by the Spinners, Weavers and Handicrafts Guild for the novice textile craftsperson whose work in Sections A – G most impresses the Guild Judges (regardless of whether or not entries have won any other families), there will be gift vouchers and cash awarded to the persons with the most points in each section.


 


Entries were taken to the Community School from 1530 to 1800hrs on Friday, 10 September 2010.  Prize Giving and a raffle took place at 1600hrs on Sunday, 12 September 2010.
