Governor Gurr departs on Business and Overseas Leave

Following the return of Chief Secretary, Mr Andrew Wells and Mrs Wells on 11 August from overseas leave, His Excellency Governor Gurr and Mrs Gurr will depart St Helena on board the RMS St Helena when she leaves for Cape Town later that day.

While in Cape Town, Governor Gurr will be meeting with Adam Kossowski, the St Helena Government Representative in South Africa and he will also meet with fishing and tourism interests as well as appearing on Rodney Trudgeon’s radio programme.  Rodney will be remembered here for the two musical tours he has hosted to the island.

Following his stay in Cape Town the Governor will then fly on to the UK where, after a holiday in Scandinavia, he will again attend a number of high level meetings including with DfID and FCO.

During his absence from the Island, Mr Andrew Wells will perform the duties of Acting Governor until Governor Gurr’s return to St Helena on 10 October 2010.

Mrs Gillian Francis will continue to perform the role of Acting Chief Secretary.
