BFBS DIGITAL TV IN STANLEY

By Lynn Brownlee

Viewers may have noticed that a test service of the new BFBS digital system from Sapper Hill is now being broadcast in Stanley.  The service is still in its commissioning phase and so is subject to interruption at this time, but should be fully operational by the end of June.

To tune into the service, viewers will need an IDTV or UK standard "Freeview" set top box in order to receive the programmes. Suitable equipment should have both the following Freeview logo and the DTV Tick to guarantee reception:

TV channels available to Stanley viewers are: BFBS 1 (slipped service), BFBS 2 (evenings and weekends only), BFBS 3 (children’s channel – limited hours) and BFBS 8 – Sky News.  Radio channels available are: BFBS Radio 1 and 2, FIRS radio, Gurkha radio and BFBS radio UK.  The BBC World Service to be added once the rights issues, currently being negotiated, have been finalised.

Any comments and feedback on the new service can be sent to Lynn Brownlee on e-mail lbrownlee@sec.gov.fk or tel 28430.
