CHILEAN EARTHQUAKE APPEAL EARNS NEARLY 27,000.00 FOR CHILEAN TOWN

By J. Brock (FINN)

A small town in Chile is to benefit from the £26,600.19 that was raised after an 8.8 earthquake hit that country in February.  At a reception at Government House organizer, Mrs Celia Short, also received a bouquet of flowers on behalf of her hard work in raising the money, which will be spent on pre-fabricated housing for the nearly 5,000 people in the town who are still living in tents.

The Honourable Mr Dick Sawle (MLA) spoke on Mrs Short’s behalf and told the small gathering about how she got straight to work after the quake and pulled the whole community together in order to raise the money.

On behalf of all those who worked with Mrs Short to raise the money, a bouquet of flowers was presented by Mrs Nancy Jennings, who thanked her for dedication, spirit and endurance in seeing the project to its conclusion.
