The Sea and Marine Cadets held their annual inspection on Sunday evening at Cadet HQ.  Family members and friends attended the ceremonial inspection as well as evolutions.  Evolutions included dancing the “Hornpipe” and setting up a “Basha” including the cooking of com rations – without the benefit of a fire.

The inspection was carried out by Commander Andy Giles, RN, the Southern Area Officer for 70 units including those on the Isle of Wight, Guernsey, Jersey and the Falkland Islands.

During presentations Cadets who took part in the Cadet Challenge received certificates from CDR Giles and some Cadets were promoted.  In his remarks after the inspection CDR Giles thanked all those who helped to make the inspection a success, including Adam Lunn, HMS Clyde and staff at MPA.  He also mentioned the Cadets participation in the Challenge as well as Trafalgar Day activities at MPA and at Government House, sailing on Gull Island Pond and visits to yachts including Hollinsclough and visits to HMS Clyde.  He returns to the UK on Tuesday.
