Falklands : Falklands' Cape Pembroke Results

Stephen Frear RAF, won the Cape Pembroke Half Marathon in a record time of 1:14:05 despite head-on and sideways winds and sleet.

CAPE PEMBROKE HALF MARATHON RUN IN RECORD TIME DESPITE APPALLING WEATHER

The Cape Pembroke Half Marathon Winners 

 

Stephen Frear RAF, won the Cape Pembroke Half Marathon in a record time of 1:14:05 despite head-on and sideways winds and sleet.  Second man was Stanley Resident, Martin Collins in a time of 1:31 and third was Ben Stait RN in a time of 1:32:04.  Teslyn Barkman was the first woman to cross the finish line in 1:59:20, followed by Carol Peck in 2:05:57 and Sherma Thyne in 2:16:45.

The first walkers past the post were Karen Minto and Anna and Zoe Luxton in 3:08:05.

Presenting the prizes this year was Don Halliday, an Olympic runner who attended the Munich Games in 1972 in the 100 metres and 4 by 100.  He now works and lives at MPA.

In his remarks race organiser,  Mr Peter Biggs thanked all involved in sponsoring the event including Confish, Ian Stuart Construction, Byron Marine, the Falkland Islands Company, Rural Business Association and the Bread Shop as well as marshals and other volunteers.
