At a reception at Government House on Tuesday, 05 January 2010 Mrs Ann Reid became the first person in the Falkland Islands to receive the Elizabeth Medal and Memorial Scroll.

In his remarks H. E. The Governor Mr Alan Huckle noted that the Elizabeth Medal and Memorial Scroll was initiated in August 2009 to show appreciation for the huge debt the nation owes families who gave up their loved ones in campaigns since WWII.

Mrs Reid’s son, Paul Green, lost his life aboard RFA Sir Galahad on 08 June 1982 at the age of 21. Mrs Reid’s family along with invited guests watched Mr Huckle present the medal and Memorial Scroll to her.

After the presentation a toast to the family and a loyal toast were given.  Besides this story by FINN Ann was also filmed by BFBS and interviewed by FIRS and Penguin News.
