St Helena : Hospital Laundry Ready for the Private Sector

The St Helena Government has outsourced the Hospital Laundry to Namibian firm, The Laundry Room. Mr Charles Watson’s company will provide the laundry service on a five year contract for the Public Health and Social Services Department and will operate from the Community Care Centre.

The St Helena Government has outsourced the Hospital Laundry to Namibian firm, The Laundry Room. Mr Charles Watson’s company will provide the laundry service on a five year contract for the Public Health and Social Services Department and will operate from the Community Care Centre.


 


Under the contract, they will provide a laundry service for the General Hospital, the Community Care Centre and the Elderly Care Unit.


 


Carol George, Chief Administrative Health and Social Services Officer said that the investors are keen to employ existing staff and will commence operation on 15 September. She added that the department is looking forward to working with the investors.


 


The Namibian investors were recently on Island when they had opportunity to discuss the business venture. The contract was also signed with Carol George signing for the St Helena Government.


 


Susan O’Bey, Contract and External Services Officer said that this is the third activity to have been outsourced in the last 12 months with the others being the Sawmill and the Vehicle Inspection Centre.
