SUNNY VENUE FOR QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY PARADE

A parade to celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen was held at Victory Green on Tuesday 21st April 2009 beginning at 1030hrs. The parade formed up at 10.15 hours with music from the Band of the Parachute Regiment.  CBSAI, Air Commodore Gordon Moulds arrived first and His Excellency the Governor arrived in the Red Taxi at 10.30 hours.  After the raising and lowering of standards and an inspection of the contingents from MPA and the Falkland Islands Defence Force the firing guns repeated this was followed by a march past at which His Excellency the Governor will take the Royal Salute.

 

Taking part in the parade were contingents of the Royal Navy, the Army – the Gurkha Regiment, the Royal Air Force, the Falkland Islands Defence Force supported by the Band of the Parachute Regiment, and members of youth organisations.  Also in attendance were representatives of the Legislative Assembly and the Falkland Islands Government.  A fly-past was scheduled for approximately 10.45 hours.

 

After the parade a reception and loyal toast was held at Government House for invited guests.
