On Thursday, 26 march 2009 Mrs Shirley Adams-Leach received her MBE at Government House.  Approximately 50 of her colleagues and friends attended the reception where H.E. the Governor Mr Alan Huckle read the Royal Warrant and presented the MBE to Mrs Adams-Leach.

Before he read the Royal Warrant Mr Huckle said that Mrs Leach chose to receive her MBE at Government House while her mother was visiting instead of waiting until HRH the Princess Royal could do it when she visits next month, or even going to the UK to receive it at Buckingham Palace.

During the speech he quoted exerts from four people who nominated Mrs Leach for the award.  All of them spoke of her professionalism, commitment beyond working hours, community service and love.  It is tradition that those nominating people for awards remain anonymous.

A special mention was made of “Drop in the Ocean,” and the “Falklands Symphony.” FINN notes the excellent Community School concerts and performances at events like the World Mental Health Day Supper-dance on October 10th 2008.
