Vehicle Inspection Centre Attracts Considerable Interest

There has been considerable interest from the private sector in taking over the Vehicle Inspection Service.

“It is a good business opportunity and it was most encouraging to see that there are so many parties who are interested in this venture” said Susan O’Bey, Contracts and External Services Officer for the St Helena Government.

Interested parties will be invited to tender for the service and bids will be evaluated soon after. Susan said that the activity is likely to move to the private sector by the start of the new financial year, which is less than four months away.

The St Helena Government has more outsourcing planned over the next year, and soon it will advertise the cleaning of various Government buildings and the provision of heavy plant equipment. The latter will allow for the private sector to take over the Government plant and, in addition to providing a service to Government, to develop it as business venture.
