Falklands : Professional Certificates Handed out at Government House

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATES HANDED OUT AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE

Fifteen people received professional certificates from H. E. the Governor Mr Alan Huckle.  Those receiving NVQ Certificates were Linda Bonner for Level 3 in General Health Care Support, Maria Faria for Level 3 in Preoperative Care (Surgical Support), Pam Freer, level 3 in Work Effectiveness Competences (1 Module), Wendy Harris for Level 3 in Business and Administration and Farrah Peck for NVQ level 2 in Customer Service,

Other certificates were received by Pat Gale for IOSH Managing Safely, Janice Dent for IOSH Managing Safely, Craig Graham (not present) for IOSH Managing Safely, Derek Short for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Jock Sutherland for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Caroline Aldridge for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Val Berntsen for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Alison Ford (not Present) for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Ian Goss for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Richard Morrison (not present) HCSW in-service Training , KEMHSue Spicer for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Jim Ward (not present) for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH, Lesley Knight for HCSW in-service Training , KEMH and Lucy Njambi for HCSW in-service Training, KEMH.

In her remarks Ms Karen Bree, Head of Health and Medical Services at the KEMH said that in recent years there hadn’t been a formal in-service training programme at the KEMH.  “Casual employees have been asked to work in challenging care settings,” she said.

Once the need for in-service training was established several subject areas were identified.  Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Presentation and Communication Skills, Basic Life Support, Infection Control and Incident Reporting courses were arranged for casual staff who had worked either on the ward or in the community were invited to attend.

Ms Bree added that new topics like Confidentiality, Child Protection, and the Management of the Mentally Unwell patients on the ward have also been introduced.  She went on to say that 22 casual employees have participated in the training programme and 15 casual staff have completed the training programme..  Update sessions will be conducted by Mrs Janette Vincent on an annual basis.

After the certificates were handed out H. E. the Governor Mr Huckle congratulated all who received certificates.  A group photo was taken.  FINN has a series of photos taken at the event.
