Todays crude prices are directly related to market shares but someone forgot to tell the traders that the market ended down.
HYDROCARBONS DAILY RECORD: FRIDAY, 25 JANUARY 2008
By J. Brock (FINN)
At 1930hrs LMT on Friday, 25 January 2008 Light Sweet Crude was trading at $90.71 up $1.30 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent Crude was trading at $90.90 up $1.83 on London’s ICE Futures Market.
ANALYSIS:
Today’s price rises were directly tied to the market. When the DJI increased early in the session those who wanted to make a profit off the increases used the feel good factor to demand increases in crude prices. Only problem is that when the markets slid later in the day, crude prices did not. Score one for greed.
