Falklands : Falklands Islands Plan Up For Discussion
Submitted by Falkland Islands News Network (Juanita Brock) 20.12.2007 (Article Archived on 03.01.2008)

A draft Islands Plan is up for public consultation.

ISLANDS PLAN 2008-12 – FOR CONSULTATION

A draft Islands Plan, setting out government’s ambitions and promises for the next five years, has now been issued for consultation with the community and stakeholders.

The Plan looks for some far reaching outcomes by 2012, and sets out milestones for 2008-10.  “As the introduction to the Plan states,” said Councillor Mike Summers, Policy Portfolio holder, “none of these promises can be achieved by departments acting alone, and most of the outcomes require everybody – Government, businesses and the community – to do their bit to make the Islands the place we want them to be.”

Copies of the Plan are available electronically from uwallace@sec.gov.fk, and in hard copy from either the Secretariat or Gilbert House.  Responses to the consultation should be sent to uwallace@sec.gov.fk by Friday 18 January 2008 and these will be reported to Executive Council on 24 January 2008.
