A meeting of the Falkland Islands Tourist Board will take place in the Function Room of the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce at 1330hrs on Monday, 05 November 2007. The next FITB Members’ Meeting will be held in the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce Function Room on Thursday, 15 November 2007 at 1630hrs. Items for presentation at that meeting should reach the office by close of business on 07 October 2007.
The first vessel visiting Stanley will arrive on Saturday, 20 October 2007. It is anticipated that 81,000 people will visit the Falklands during the 2007/08 tourist season. An increase of land-based bookings is a result of the 25th anniversary of the conflict, with new accommodation providers now open to take guests. There are also more accredited tour guides to help the 81,000 visitors, with 4,900 visitors from 3 vessels visiting on 04 December 2007.
Two operators have attended Travel-Mart Latin America and Ms Liz Dimlich has returned from meetings in Australia and New Zealand to raise awareness of what the Falklands have to offer.
