St Helena : SHG BUDGET 2007/08 TO 2009/10

SHG will be submitting the first draft of the budget and supporting operational plan to DFID today. These calculations include new bids for expenditure required by the Departments.

SHG will be submitting the first draft of the budget and supporting operational plan to DFID today. The first draft of the budget is based on the detailed calculations by the Department, and these calculations have been reviewed by the relevant Committees and the Finance Department. These calculations include new bids for expenditure required by the Departments.

Overall the first draft budget shows a requirement for a grant of £8.8M in 2007/08 compared to a grant of £6.9M this financial year – an increase of over 27%. It is unlikely that this will be approved by DFID and so, in January, Councillors, officials and Heads of Department will be working hard to critically review all aspects of Government spending and revenues to try and bridge the gap. A second draft budget, incorporating these changes, will be submitted to DFID in early February and this budget will form the basis for the DAPM team discussions later in February.
