Lord Triesman, FCO Minister responsible for relations with the UK Overseas Territories, will visit  the Falkland Islands on 15-16 December ’06 before travelling on to Chile for an official visit there.

Lord Triesman will meet Councillors, senior officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce during his short stay – and will receive a military briefing from CBF at the Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC). The Governor will host a dinner for Lord Triesman and his party at Government House and there will be an opportunity for Lord Triesman to meet the press.

The purpose of Lord Triesman’s visit is to discuss issues affecting the Falklands and hear about matters of concern to Falkland  islanders at first hand as well as to appreciate the substantial social and economic progress that has been made in recent years.
