David "Aldo" Alderson has sustained serious injuries in Southern Lebanon.
LANDMINE MAIMS FORMER FALKLANDS RESIDENT

David “Aldo” Alderson, a former resident of Stanley, on Friday ws maimed in a landmine accident in southern Lebanon. At the time of the accident Aldo was with a mine clearance team run by the mine clearance Company, ArmorGroup. He and a colleague had gone to the aid of a shepherd and his flock when the landmine went off. Mr. Alderson was taken to a local hospital where his leg was amputated and is now in hospital in Beiruit, where his injuries have been described as serious but not life threatening.
ArmorGroup has been clearing unexploded ordinance in southern Lebanon since September for the UN Mine Action Co-ordination Centre, based in the southern city of Tyre.
