Sergeant Dave Roberts of the Royal Falkland Islands Police updates us on the latest Police activity.


 


At 1653hrs on Monday, 15 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a request for an ambulance on Ross Road.  Police and hospital staff dealt with the incident.


 


At 1700hrs on Monday, 15 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a near miss between children, one on foot and another on a bike on the Stanley Bypass in the vicinity of Stanley Services Limited fuel station.  Parents were located and spoken to. Police would like to remind pedestrians and bike users that in order to be safe during the dark winter nights they must be seen.  Bikes should have lights front and back and pedestrians need to wear something light or reflective during hours of darkness.


 


At 1540hrs on Tuesday, 16 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a number of people fly fishing at the Frying Pan, possibly for trout.  The Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to remind the public that the Rod and Line Fishing season ended on 31 April 2006 and will not open again until 01 September 2006.


 


On Wednesday, 17 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received the sad news of the death of Terence “Woo” Aldridge, 53, at Hill cove.


 


At 0121hrs on Wednesday, 17 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of two trespassers at a property on Eliza Cove.  They are currently helping Police with their enquiries.


 


At 1801hrs on Wednesday, 17 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a fire at a property at Felton’s Stream.  The Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the report.


 


At 2040hrs on Wednesday, 17 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a single vehicle road traffic accident resulting in one person assisting them with their enquiries.


 


At 0921hrs on Thursday, 18 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a possible mortar on Wireless Ridge.  The EOD will deal with the ordinance.


 


As a result of a call from a member of the public on Friday, 19 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to remind the drivers of heavy goods vehicles that plates displaying the weight of the vehicle and/or goods must be displayed on the vehicle in accordance with the Highway Weights Limits Ordinance 2004.  They are further reminded that in accordance with vehicles over 15 metric tonnes should not be travelling on certain roads.  Vehicles are limited as follows:  38 metric tonnes on the Stanley to Darwin Road, any roads in Stanley or the road to Estancia and Green Patch.  This law was amended in March 2006.


 


At 1438hrs on Friday, 19 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report that a drunk refused to leave the Globe tavern.  He left when police officers attended.


 


At 1104hrs on Sunday, 21 march 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a road traffic accident between three vehicles on the San Carlos Road.  Three people sustained injuries.  The matter is under investigation.


 


At 1158hrs on Monday, 22 May 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report that the EOD had found a C3B anti-vehicle Mine on the Stanley Common.  This will be disposed of on Wednesday.
