Sergeant Dave Roberts of the Royal Falkland Islands Police updates us on recent police activity.


 


At 1314hrs on Thursday, 16 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands received a report that while checking the minefield fence in Goose Green the EOD found a magazine.  After exploratory digging, an FN762 support weapon was found.  EOD dealt with the disposal of both items of ordinance.


 


At various times - 1630hrs on Thursday, 16 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received reports from concerned members of the public who observed children either riding on the laps of carers, or not wearing seat belts while riding in vehicles.  The Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to remind members of the public that it is an offence under the “Wearing of Seatbelts on Prescribed Roads 1996 Ordinance” to transport children who are not wearing seat belts.


 


At 2045hrs on Thursday, 16 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received reports of orange flares in the vicinity of Port Luis and Johnson’s Harbour.  The Resident Infantry Company were holding an exercise in the area.


 


At 1126hrs on Saturday, 18 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a request for assistance from a person who had activated a distress beacon at sea.


 


At 1404hrs on Saturday, 18 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a possible fire on one of the West islands from the approaching Lan flight.  Fire and Rescue dealt with the report.


 


At 1705hrs on Saturday, 18 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police observed youths motorcycling in an area near the Canache.  The Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to remind all motorcycle riders who are too young to have licences that the designated area for their sport is on the South Side of the Bypass Road.  Other land on the Stanley Common from the bridge at Moody Brook to the Cape Pembroke Lighthouse is covered under the Road Traffic Ordinance and can only be used by licensed motorcyclists.


 


At 1807hrs on Saturday, 18 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a pole missing from the cattle grid at Moody Brook.  PWD dealt with this item.


 


At 0020hrs on Sunday, 19 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a report of a person laying in the road in the vicinity of the Agriculture Department.  A person was arrested and is subject to enquiries.


 


At 1833hrs on Sunday, 19 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received reports of quantities of fuel missing from vehicles parked on the new Moody Brook to Merle River Road.  The matter is under investigation.  If anyone has info please contact the Royal Falkland Islands Police.


 


At 1042hrs on Monday, 20 February 2006 the Royal Falkland Islands Police received a request for medical assistance from Megabid.  The KEMH dealt with the incident.
