MARIANNE DANICA SAILS FROM TRISTAN

By J. Brock (SARTMA-TdC)

The M/V Marianne Danica, that left Stanley on 10 April 2005, has reached Tristan on 20 April and discharged her cargo of four Corriedale Rams and picked up the Fisheries Patrol vessel, Wavedancer as well as two passengers, including Joseph Green.  Mr. Green will accompany Wavedancer to the Halmatic Shipyard in the UK and oversee the vessel’s refit.

According to the ship’s master the Marianne Danica sailed from Tristan on 21 April 2005 at 1415 and at the time he notified FIC Shipping agency, the weather was NW .4 and the ship was making 10kts.

The refit came about when the Island Council granted money to do the task. Wavedancer was scheduled a place on M/V Marianne Danica when she made a stop at Tristan to Discharge the rams.

The refit is due to take several months and it is not yet known officially how Wavedancer will be returned to Tristan after the work is completed.
