At a special venue organised for the Trough, British Musician, Andi Neate has said good-bye to the Falklands.  Approximately 50 people attended the Trough, some from as far as Mount Pleasant, to hear Andi sing a selection of her favourite songs.  At the end of the venue, other members of the public were invited to perform.

Just after her arrival last Wednesday, Andi gave her first performance at the trough and that was followed on Thursday by an afternoon seminar with students at the Falkland Islands Community School, thanks to Music Teacher, Shirley Adams-Leach.  On Friday and Saturday night Andi was back in the Trough and then on Sunday she was at the Victory Bar for an evening performance.

The talented musician sang a variety of songs by well known artists like Traci Chapman as well as performing some of her own music.  One song was about a big crash, while another was reprimanding an old flame for bringing his new girlfriend home.  Andi interacted with the audience by the skilful use of her music and lyrics. The music was accompanied by guitar – her own and those of Gerard Robson and Tim Cotter.  Several numbers were accentuated by Andi’s superb fiddle playing.  “Fag Ashe Blondes” music also featured with Andi’s fiddle playing adding a special touch.

Thanks to the Fighting Pig Band, Andi had a lot of venues in a very short period of time and she admitted that the time she spent here seemed to pass too quickly.  The good-byes were accented by the presentation of “The Pig Vine” that was signed by members of the Fighting Pig Band by Len McGill.

Andi left the Falklands on Tuesday’s northbound flight.
