CAREERS FAIR AT FICS SCHEDULED FOR APRIL
By J. Brock (FINN)

A careers fair has been scheduled to take place at the Leisure Centre Sports Hall on Wednesday, 16 April 2014 from 1400hrs to 1600hrs.

According to a letter form organiser, Emma Brook, stall holders can set up from 1300hrs on the day.

Normally this event would be held on the FICS School Street but according to Mrs Brook feedback suggested the Sports Hall provided exhibitors with more room to set up and for visitors and students to have better access to stalls.

This year exhibitors are expected to place an emphasis on qualifications necessary to obtain employment with them. Students will be issued with a booklet to help them ask relevant questions about training required to obtain specific jobs they are interested in.

“We appreciate your support in advising the next generation of employees,” she said in an introductory letter. “Our experience with students tells us that they are often unaware of all the different jobs available in the Falkland Islands and the specific need for qualifications for those jobs,” she continued.

Specifically recent school leavers as well as those wishing to change careers will be welcome to attend the Careers Fair to obtain relevant information about the career moves they want to make.

With the letter an application form for potential stall holders was included.
