We received
news yesterday of a tragic car accident in which Hogni Carlsson and Vilhjalmur
Gregoriussen lost their lives. Both men were returning home with the Faroe
Islands team from the Bermuda Natwest Island Games 2013, and their loss has
resounded through other island nations.

Hogni
Carlsson will be remembered with pride as he cheered on his two daughters to
win several badminton medals. Vilhjalmur Gregoriussen was chairman of the
Faroese Badminton association, part of an enthusiastic and competitive team
participating this year.

A
letter of condolence has been sent to the Prime Minister of Denmark and the Mayor
of Torshavn, Faroe Islands.

The
thoughts and deepest sympathies of all Falkland Islanders are with their family
and friends at this sad time.
