Enterprise St Helena is pleased to announce that John Scipio has been appointed Project Administration Manager in our newly established Cape Town office. John joined ESH with effect from 19thNovember 2012, and was involved in the recent publicity events with His Excellency the Governor, Mark Capes, and the Chief Executive for Economic Development, Julian Morris.

Enterprise St Helena is pleased to announce that John Scipio has been appointed Project Administration Manager in our newly established Cape Town office. John joined ESH with effect from 19thNovember 2012, and was involved in the recent publicity events with His Excellency the Governor, Mark Capes, and the Chief Executive for Economic Development, Julian Morris.


 


John was born on St. Helena, completed his schooling and also worked here before moving to Cape Town in 1980. For the next ten years he worked in the motor industry and ran his own business. He has spent the past eighteen years in intense Project/Programme Management.


 


From 1994 John project managed the St. Helena Government Fleet operations to ensure cost effectiveness, smooth running, and improved maintenance. It also involved putting in place a procurement schedule and reducing the annual budget.


 


Since 2001 he has been a Project and later a Programme Manager on the international award-winning Khanya Project, a10-year initiative of the Western Cape Education Department. The purpose of Khanya was to provide technology to schools and to train teachers to use it for effective curriculum delivery. Khanya is recognized nationally and internationally as the most successful initiative of its kind on the African continent.


 


An overview of his expertise includes: Programme and Project Management / General Management / Communication / Relationship Building and Stakeholder Management / Business Planning / Reporting / Driving Cost Savings & Improvement Projects.


 


John has a track record of getting results, making optimal use of resources, of building profitable relationships, and of successfully spearheading new initiatives.


 


In speaking of his new appointment, John said It gives me great pleasure to be playing a role on behalf of my home, St. Helena.”


 


Working alongside the Southern African Commercial Representative, Adam Kossowski, the main purpose of this role is to provide front line support to the ESH team and also SHG officials, whilst being directly responsible for the day to day operations of a St Helena representative office in Cape Town. Duties include asset and estate management, customer relations, and potentially the supervision of any additional support personnel who may be required. John will also be directly involved in our “Saint Connect” initiative, with the aim of re-establishing links between the island and Saints now living in Southern Africa.
