Falklands : ALL SET FOR THE ANNUAL STANLEY RAFT RACE 2013

The Annual Stanley Raft Race will be held on 1st January 2013, from ‘B’ Slip to the Narrows Beach (adjacent to the Narrows Bar). Rafts should be at ‘B’ Slip ready for inspection at 1130 ready for a midday start. Entry Fee is £10.00 per raft, and classes of Traditional and Super raft will be allocated to each raft by the organisers.

The Annual Stanley Raft Race will be held on 1st January 2013, from ‘B’ Slip to the Narrows Beach (adjacent to the Narrows Bar).  Rafts should be at ‘B’ Slip ready for inspection at 1130 ready for a midday start.  Entry Fee is £10.00 per raft, and classes of Traditional and Super raft will be allocated to each raft by the organisers.  Rules apply, and these and entry forms can be got from Ken (call 52779) or John (call 51111 or email xo@tsendurance.org.fk).


 


In the interest of safety, users of private water craft and Jet-ski’s etc are kindly requested to remain outside the course, which will be clearly marked out.


 


There are two categories: traditional and super rafts; and rules and conditions for entry include:


 


Rafts must be constructed in a safe manner, A sail of up to two square metres is allowed; but no mechanical propulsion such as outboards or propellers, Maximum crew of six and a minimum of two, minimum age for crew is 12 but parental consent is required for all under 16, all crew are to wear life jackets or personal flotation devices (PFD). The crew must provide these, the organisers will NOT provide lifejackets or PFDs, teams are responsible for removal of rafts immediately after the race, the organisers accept no responsibility for removal or storage of equipment left behind, there will be a pre-race briefing and a raft inspection at 1130hrs, the race will begin at 1200hrs sharp, entry fee is £10.00 per raft to be paid in advance or on the day to organisers.  All monies raised will be donated to Stanley Sea Cadets and In cases of dispute the decision of the organisers is final.
