A concerned member of the public reported that damage had been done to the Argentine cemetery at Darwin.  The Royal Falkland Islands Police investigated and discovered that the glass screen covering the shrine to the blessed Lady of Lujan has been shattered in several places by a blunt instrument.  Fortunately the Statue of Our Lady of Lujan was not damaged and it was removed for safe keeping until the shrine could be repaired.

The Statue of Our Lady of Lujan as well as the damaged screen is with the Royal Falkland Islands Police.

A full investigation has been launched and the Royal Falkland Islands Police have called for witnesses or anyone who visited the Argentine Cemetery between22 and 28 July to come forward with any relevant information.

People from the Governor right sown to members of Legislative Assembly as well as those interviewed on the street condemn any action of this sort and very much regret that this might have happened.

The Families Commission has been informed and is working on the arrangements for repair.
