St Helena : ST HELENA: REVISED FUEL PRICES
Submitted by Saint Helena Herald (Public Relations Information Office) 19.05.2012 (Article Archived on 02.06.2012)

Wholesale prices from the Bulk Fuel Installation have been revised following the last tanker delivery on 8 May 2012.

REVISED FUEL PRICES

Wholesale prices from the Bulk Fuel Installation have been revised following the last tanker delivery on 8 May 2012.  This is in accordance with the pricing policy approved by Executive Council in June 2010.

The increase in the price of fuel was due to the Dollar price of fuel increasing, but partially offset by an improvement in the Dollar Pound exchange rate.  A further significant impact was the smaller shipment which resulted in a higher average delivery cost.  These factors had a negative impact on the price per litre of fuel purchased.

The Customs Duty rate also changed on 8 May 2012.  The current rate for diesel increased to 17p per litre (previously 10p per litre) and the rate for petrol decreased to 39p per litre (previously 43p per litre).  This is in line with trying to equalise the duties between these fuels.

Solomons implemented the revised retail prices from 17 May 2012. The revised pump price for diesel is £1.25 per litre (an increase of 12 pence) and there is no change to the price of petrol which remains at £1.52 per litre.
