Boasting more than 500 million active users, people spend over 700 billion minutes on Facebook every month, with 50% of users logging onto Facebook in any given day! With the fastest growing demographic of users 35 years and above, we believe it is imperative to take the Falkland Islands to where people, and your potential customers, are spending time. Our Falklands page allows us to take the destination to a huge and diverse audience and get involved with online conversations and communities.
A Falklands ‘virtual’ community
Facebook’s virtual community provides a platform for people to share photographs, stories, travel experiences and connect with friends and family. People joining the Falklands Facebook page all hold a common interest – the Falklands. Social media is a great way of spreading the word about why people should visit the Falkland Islands. Many companies now have a social media presence with products and places all posting information and requesting people to become a ‘fan’.
At FITB, while we will be posting events, pictures and information to showcase what a great place the Falklands are visit, we are effectively directing others to endorse the destination on our behalf, and in ‘real’ time. Third party endorsements are extremely powerful in today’s informative sharing environment.
