STANLEY DAIRY TO CLOSE
By J. Brock (FINN)
Following the departure from the Falklands of Kevin and Leone Reynolds earlier this year the future of Stanley Dairy has been uncertain. Executive Council has now decided that it will close. This follows a period of in depth discussions with parties interested in taking over the management and subsequent ownership of Stanley Dairy.
However, FIDC were unable to secure a successful bidder under the terms previously set down by Executive Council. Reluctantly Members therefore had to conclude that the Dairy should be closed as soon as possible and that FIDC should seek to maximise the return on the sale of assets in order to defray the operating losses incurred by FIG over the past 4 years.
In practical terms, the last delivery of fresh milk will be on Friday, 03 July 2009. From Monday, 06 July 2009 Stanley Dairy Limited will produce un-pasteurised full-fat milk only. This milk will be available from the FIC West Store and the Chandlary for about 2 weeks until the closure date is decided. Further information will be made available next week.
