Preliminary List of Electors 2009
Last Opportunity to lodge Corrections and Objections
The preliminary lists of Electors were issued on Thursday 18 June 2009 so that members of the public can check whether their details have been entered correctly. Objections can also be made to other people’s names being on the list.
Returning Officer, Gillian Francis said that this year’s Register of Electors is particularly important because of the upcoming General Election later this year.
Any person who claims to be entitled to be registered as an elector and whose name is omitted from the Lists, should submit his/her claim on the prescribed form to the Registration Officer, Mrs Gillian Francis, at the Castle. Any registered elector who objects to the name of any person appearing on the lists should also submit his/her claim, on the prescribed form, again to the Registration Officer at the Castle. Both forms can be obtained from Gillian Francis and should be submitted to her by 2 July 2009.
It is important to inspect the Lists to see if your name is entered correctly in the correct Electoral Area and Polling District or, indeed, if your name is entered at all to ensure that the Register of Electors is as accurate as possible.
The Preliminary Lists have been widely distributed and may be inspected at the Office of the Registration Officer at the Castle, the Public Library, the Police Stations at Half Tree Hollow, White Gate, Longwood and Alarm Forest, the Jamestown, Kingshurst, Blue Hill, Sandy Bay and Harford Community Centres, Scotland Office, Head O'Wain Clinic, Mrs Audrey Yon's shop at Blue Hill, Solomon's shops at Sandy Bay and Silver Hill, Half Tree Hollow Supermarket, Longwood Supermarket, Mr Philip John’s shop and W A Thorpe & Son's shop at Sandy Bay.
