FALKLANDS BUSK RAISES £218 FOR MUSEQUALITY

By J. Brock (FINN)

Thanks to students from the Falkland Islands Community School, the Dog Handling Section at MPC, Police Chief Paul Elliott and the Band of the Royal Logistical Corps, the grand total of £218.00 was raised in aid of Musequality, a UK-based charity, funds communal music projects for some of the poorest children in the developing world.

The buskers began to play for people attending the Liberation Day Civic Reception at the Town Hall.  The Students performed “Song of the Falklands and “Drop in the Ocean” for an appreciative crowd, while a piper from the Dog Section at MPC kept everyone’s feet tapping in the bright sunshine.  Police Chief Paul Elliott played his guitar and the Band of the Royal Logistics Corps played a variety of tunes from their repertoire.

The session lasted far more than the 45 minutes envisaged – one would think quietly that is was because good music and an excellent atmosphere can’t be rushed.
